The Airdrie Youth Hub

Coming to Airdrie in 2021!

The Airdrie Youth Hub is a collaborative community project that aims to integrate numerous youth- based mental health and community organizations to provide a continuum of services for Airdrie youth aged 11 to 24. The hope is that this new continuous service will address accessibility barriers for youth including a reduction in wait times, improving the public's understanding of available services, and increased collaboration among service providers to better serve youth needs.

The Airdrie Youth Hub is part of a broader, province-wide integrated hubs initiative being led by PolicyWise and the Government of Alberta. There are many rural communities and municipalities taking park in this exciting opportunity, including Grand Prairie, Fort McMurray, Bonnyville, Sherwood Park, Stoney Plain, Enoch Cree Nation, Stoney Plain, and Fort Saskatchewan! Airdrie is currently in the Planning and Preparing stage, and has a bit of a ways to go before it can open its Hub for service. The communities of Stoney Plain and Fort Saskatchewan were able to open their Hub facilities in the later part of 2019! You can check out their exciting work below.

Policy Wise Resources

Integrated Hubs Core Components:

Policy Wise's core components are the key values all communities aim to emulate for their Youth Hubs. This guideline is a great tool to help both the communities and the public have a unified vision for their ideal Hub, and how that Hub will best support the youth of those communities.

Integrated Hubs Delivery Modalities:

This is a great illustrative tool to help you understand the various ways communities are organizing and presenting their Hubs to the public. Airdrie hopes to take on more of a Virtual model (not seen in the illustration), and then transition to a Co-Located Hub if needed. Airdrie believes a virtual model would be most effective in a post-Covid world, where many organizations and health agencies are taking on a remote approach to addressing community needs. Having a virtual hub also makes everything accessible from the comfort of one's home, desktop, or mobile device!
